Simple Drawing Examples

Plumbing Layout Example

This example shows how a rough field sketch can be turned into a clean, professional layout for construction use.

A project manager provided a hand-drawn sketch, and using Bluebeam I was able to remove unnecessary information from the original plans and create a clear plumbing layout with dimensions and installation details.

The finished drawing gave the subcontractor a much clearer understanding of the scope, layout, and required work before installation began.

Site Layout Example

This example shows a general site logistics plan created from an aerial image of the project site.

Using a site photo as the base, I can map out important construction logistics such as traffic flow, contractor parking, material laydown areas, dumpster locations, concrete washout areas, and temporary stockpile locations.

This type of plan is especially useful on larger projects with multiple crews, deliveries, and subcontractors on site each day. A clear site layout helps keep everyone organized, improves safety, reduces confusion, and makes sure all crews understand the site restrictions, staging areas, and expectations before work begins.

Change of Conditions Example

This example shows how existing plan details can be revised to clearly communicate unforeseen field conditions.

In this case, the contractor discovered that the water table was significantly higher than expected and unsuitable materials had to be removed before work could continue.

Using the original detail from the plans as a base, I dimmed the background information and highlighted the revised elevations, water table, unsuitable materials, and required stone and fabric depths.

This created a clear visual explanation for the engineer, owner, and field crews so everyone could understand the issue and determine the best solution.

These types of revised details are extremely helpful when explaining unforeseen conditions, supporting change orders, and documenting why additional work is required.
